Google Business Profile Optimization
Emergency plumbing is won in the map pack. I fix categories, service lists and hours so you show for burst pipes at 2 a.m.
I’m Toufiq, an independent SEO consultant for US plumbing companies. Plumbing searches split into two very different moments. A burst pipe or a sewer backup means someone is calling within minutes, usually from the map results. A water heater replacement, a repipe or a sewer line job means someone is comparing plumbers over days. I help plumbing companies win both: the fast emergency call and the bigger, planned job that pays better.
Plumber SEO is the work that helps a plumbing company appear in Google’s map and organic results when people in its service area search for an emergency plumber, drain cleaning, water heater repair or replacement, leak detection, sewer line repair or repiping, and then turns those searches into booked jobs. It covers a strong Google Business Profile with honest hours, separate pages for each problem and service, guides that answer the questions homeowners ask before calling, genuine reviews that mention the job and the technician, fast mobile pages built around the phone call, and tracking that connects each call to the job and its value.
Burst pipes, no water, overflowing toilets, sewer backups, gas smells. People search on their phone, look at the map, check the rating and call. Very little reading happens.
Water heater replacement, tankless upgrades, repiping, sewer line replacement, remodel plumbing, water treatment. People compare, read and ask about cost.
Most plumbing sites are built only for the first kind. That leaves the larger planned jobs to competitors who explain them better, even though those jobs often bring in far more per visit.
According to EPA WaterSense, household leaks waste around a trillion gallons of water a year across the country, and some homes lose 50 gallons or more every day. Most of those owners do not know yet. They search symptoms: a higher water bill, a running toilet, a damp patch on the ceiling, the sound of water when everything is off.
Pages that explain these symptoms clearly, with a few safe checks a homeowner can do and an honest point at which to call a plumber, attract people before the leak becomes an emergency. They also tend to be the kind of practical answer that search engines and AI assistants quote, with your company named as the source.
This is how a plumbing website stops waiting for emergencies and starts creating demand for leak detection, fixture repairs and repiping.

Each group gets a main page and each service its own page, linked together so search engines understand the structure and visitors can move from a symptom to the right service. Only include services you actually perform and are licensed for in your state.
Google names relevance, distance and prominence as the factors behind local results, and reviews are a visible part of prominence. Plumbers who ask every satisfied customer for a review, and make it easy with a short link texted after the job, build an advantage that is hard to catch.
The most useful reviews mention the problem, the town and the technician: “Mike replaced our water heater in Plano the same day.” You cannot write them or pay for them, but you can ask at the right moment and suggest what is helpful to mention.
None of this matters if the phone is not answered. I often find the biggest leak in a plumbing company’s marketing is not on the website at all: it is calls that ring out after 5 p.m. Call tracking shows exactly how many, and fixing it is the cheapest growth there is.
“Water heater failed on Saturday morning. Mike had a new one in by 3 p.m. and explained the tankless option for later.”
The kind of detail worth inviting. Suggested wording.Examples only. I build your real map from your services, your towns and the call recordings and job data you already have.
A family of five, no hot water, guests arriving tomorrow.
8:10 am. She searches “water heater not working” and finds a local plumber’s troubleshooting page. Two checks later, she knows the tank has failed.
8:20 am. The page shows weekend availability, typical replacement price ranges by tank size and the option of tankless. She calls and someone answers.
2:30 pm. A new tank is installed. The technician mentions the old shut-off valves and leaves a note about a tankless upgrade.
Next year. She searches the company’s name with “tankless”, reads the comparison guide and books an estimate.
Water flows from the top: tracking and the profile come first, usually in the first month, then service pages, then guides and local authority over the following months. Fixing a fixture while the main is off helps nobody.

Plumbers diagnose before they fix, and I work the same way: first find where calls and jobs are being lost, then fix the biggest problem first.
I am a solo consultant, so you work with me directly. I previously led SEO at a US agency and managed more than twenty webmasters, content managers and copywriters, much of it for local service businesses. My broader approach for trades is on the home services SEO page, and my about page covers my background.
I have not yet published a plumbing case study, so there is none here, and I will not present another field’s results as one. Before we talk, I will check your map visibility for emergency and planned searches across your service area and show you what I find.
